The Peace Flags for Malaysia

Dear Noni

I'm glad to tell you that I'll be sending you the peace flag you proposed weeks ago. I heard that the International Understanding day will be held in 10th of July, so I think my envelope with flags will be reach to you in time.

, and if possible,  I would like to let my students see how the flags are exhibited at the day. Would you take some pictures for our students? As you see, there's no means for students to see how they are. It's really kind of you if you send them via email, or put the pictures on your web site can be also easy and effective for our project.

Yours
Akira

P.S. our web page has been uploaded this morning. The peace stories will also be uploaded in 5 days, I hope. My students are struggling to illustrate dozens of pictures! In our country, where comic is one of the most popular media among teens as well as adults, most of us can imagine how it is like to translate stories into pieces of illustration. I bet you'll be surprised with our work!?

Our Interact Club will be completing the PEACE Project in July (10th)with our International Understanding Day. This will be a grand day with about 150-200 participants from various Interact schools in our city.

We are in the process of making a globe and we hope to have it surrounded by flags from different countries made by the participants themselves. This is just an idea. We may modify it to be just one flag of each country we choose to be represented to be stuck into this paper mache globe.

To make this an even more special occasion, we would like to ask this of our partners.

Could you possibly produce a flag of your country and post it to us by snail mail with a special message of
Peace which we will then read out at our IU Day as we place your special flag into the globe?

If you could just make the flag out of art block,(white paper and then coloured to represent your country) we will attach the stick to it. The size of the flag should be 10 cm by 7 cm.(no bigger)

The message you send us could be read out or if you wish to make a short video clip, we could play that
instead - that would be fantastic!!!

We hope to be video taping as much of the programme as possible and rest assured we will mail you a copy of the cd we hope to produce (hope we are not being too ambitious here)

Akira, we are also doing one last thing for the project. If you look at our website we have a Picture Gallery. We are going to run a competition for students to hand in photographs they have taken themselves, digital or prints to depict PEACE in whatever way they wish.(eg Peace among friends, Peace in their community, a Peaceful Scene) These photographs will be displayed there and the best ones will win small prizes.
